About Child Support

The Clerk of the Circuit Court is the Official Record Keeper for any support which has been ordered to be paid through the State Disbursement Unit.

Support is divided into two categories:

  • Intrastate - Those cases resulting from separation, dissolution of marriage, domestic violence, paternity and public assistance reimbursement, whereby both parties to the order reside within the State of Florida.
  • Interstate - Cases where one of the parties resides outside the State of Florida, with an order naming the Clerk's Depository to receive and disburse the payments. This is referred to as the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, more commonly referred to as the UIFSA.

The Support Depository is located within the Hardee County Clerk of Courts Office, 417 West Main St., Suite 202, Wauchula, FL. All support related questions are to be directed to that office, either in person or by phoning (863) 773-4174 ext. 7223.

As a result of Federal and State law changes, all support payments for Hardee County are to be sent to the State of Florida Disbursement Unit located in Tallahassee. Payments should be made by check, money order, or cashier’s check and mailed to: State of Florida Disbursement Unit, PO Box 8500, Tallahassee, Florida 32314-8500. The following information must be provided with each payment, thus assuring prompt and proper credit to your support account:

  • Name (First, Middle, Last)
  • Social Security Number
  • County (where court order is located); Hardee County #25
  • Case number

Paying child support, whether it is done directly by a parent or through payroll deduction has just become easier. Non-custodial parents and their employers can pay online with a credit card or electronic check (direct debit from their bank account).

The Hardee County Clerk of the Court has teamed with the State Disbursement Unit (SDU), Florida Department of Revenue (DOR), and other Florida Clerks to offer three new online Child Support Services through www.MyFloridaCounty.com, the official website for local government services and information.

The first service enables non-custodial parents to pay child support using a credit card. The second service enables employers or payroll departments to set up an account for easy recurring payments. Using a private password, you can log into your account to make payments and also access detailed payment history. The payment account offers both credit card and electronic check payment options. The third service enables parents to type in their child support case and social security number to obtain details on the five most recent child support payments.
